Privacy Policy
Last updated 22 July 2026
This policy explains what data the Ambror Labs apps and website collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it plain because our approach is simple: your personal data stays on your device wherever it possibly can.
Who we are
The Body and Foodie apps and the Ambror Labs website are provided by Ambror Ltd ("Ambror", "we", "us"), a company registered in England & Wales (Company No. 17329353). Ambror Labs is a division of Ambror Ltd. We are the data controller for the personal data described here.
For any privacy question or request, contact privacy@ambror.com.
What this covers
- Body — our body-composition and habit-tracking app.
- Foodie — our food and nutrition app.
- labs.ambror.com — this website, including the waitlist.
The short version
- The apps work without an account. We do not ask you to register or sign in.
- Your app data is stored on your device, and — if you enable iCloud — in your own iCloud account. We cannot see it.
- Health data never leaves your device to reach us, and is never used for advertising.
- The only personal data that reaches our servers is what you deliberately send: a food search in Foodie, or your email on the waitlist.
Health & fitness data (Body)
With your permission, Body reads and writes health and fitness data through Apple’s HealthKit — for example weight, height, body fat, sleep, workouts, nutrition and water. This lets Body reflect your real numbers without you re-entering them, and save what you log back to Apple Health.
Regarding this HealthKit data, we commit that:
- It is stored on your device and, if you use it, your private iCloud — it is never transmitted to or stored on Ambror servers.
- It is never used for advertising or marketing, and is never sold or shared with data brokers.
- It is never shared with third parties for their own purposes.
- You can review or revoke Body’s access at any time in the iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health or the Health app.
Food searches
When you search for a food, your search term is sent to our food service so we can return nutrition results. That service uses our own Ambror food API together with the public Open Food Facts database. Only the food you search for is sent — no personal information about you leaves your device. Because there are no accounts, searches are not linked to your identity or used to build a profile of you. We keep anonymous search activity only to keep the service working well and prevent abuse.
iCloud
If you enable iCloud, your app data syncs through your personal iCloud account. That storage is provided by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy; we have no access to it and cannot read its contents.
The waitlist (website)
If you join a waitlist on labs.ambror.com, we collect the name and email you enter, and which product you signed up for. We use this only to let you know when that product is ready, and to contact you about it. We do not sell it or use it for unrelated marketing. You can ask us to remove you at any time at privacy@ambror.com.
Analytics, diagnostics and advertising
At present the apps do not include third-party analytics or advertising, and do not track you across other apps or websites.
We intend to add advertising to help sustain the apps, alongside a paid option to remove ads entirely. When we do:
- Ads will be contextual — we are not setting out to track you across other apps and websites, and do not intend to show ads built from a cross-app profile of you.
- Advertising will never use your HealthKit data.
- You will be able to pay once to remove ads.
- If any feature ever would track you in the sense Apple defines, we would first ask through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt.
Legal bases (UK GDPR)
- Consent — for HealthKit access and for joining the waitlist. You can withdraw it at any time.
- Legitimate interests — to operate the apps, answer food searches, and keep the service secure and reliable.
Retention
- On-device and iCloud data stays until you delete it or remove the app.
- Waitlist details are kept until the product launches or you ask us to remove them, whichever is sooner.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your personal data, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email privacy@ambror.com. You also have the right to complain to the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), though we’d appreciate the chance to help first.
Children
The apps are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for significant changes, give notice in the app or on this page.
